Introduction:
The Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance is a non-profit organization with a mission of facilitating investments in energy efficiency for homeowners, non-profit organizations, and commercial building owners through outreach and education, project management, and financing solutions. It is one of only 35 organizations in the country that is part of the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings program, charged with transforming the energy efficiency market in a way that owners of all buildings have access to technical and financing resources they need to reduce energy consumption. Energy efficiency is an economic development tool that saves people money, creates jobs, reduces dependence on foreign oil, and preserves the planet, and these tenets are what the Energy Alliance believes in as the basis for making a significant impact in the community.
The Energy Alliance is seeking a dynamic and creative Community Outreach Manager to join our team to help us effectively deliver an exciting marketing campaign that engages the community to invest in energy efficiency improvements.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required; an advanced degree and/or industry certifications preferred.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community organizing, marketing, or comparable job, with knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy preferred.
Primary Skills:
• Significant background in community outreach and organizing around social, political and economic issues;
• Demonstrated ability to engage individuals, groups and neighborhoods to participate in concerted public activity;
• Strong understanding of both traditional and new media forms to maximize marketing and outreach efforts;
• Well-organized with demonstrated ability to multi-task;
• Ability to plan and implement projects;
• Articulate public speaker; and
• Computer and Database management skills.
Job Responsibilities:
• Work with the Marketing and Community Outreach Director to design and implement comprehensive outreach strategies within all targeted neighborhoods throughout Energy Alliance’s Ohio and Northern Kentucky service territories.
• Manage the outreach and information dissemination effort in each targeted neighborhood, with availability on nights and weekends to attend meetings of community groups and other volunteer organizations.
• Facilitate a web-based viral marketing effort to reach the residential, non-profit, and commercial sectors, utilizing tools that include social media, newsletters, and blogs.
• Contribute to the Energy Alliance Web site, including maintaining updated content, links to partner organizations, oversight of customer/partner online database, and volunteer opportunities within the Energy Alliance.
• Implement and document best practices in garnering community support.
• Supervise and recruit volunteers/ interns to support the Energy Alliance marketing, communication and outreach efforts.
• Track and report progress of marketing activities and milestones. Other duties as may be assigned by the Marketing and Community Outreach Director in order to carry out the Energy Alliance mission.
