ACEEE STIMULUS RESOURCES LINK ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY
In February, Congress passed and the President signed an economic stimulus package estimated to cost $787 billion over two years. The act includes the single largest investment in energy efficiency in history—approximately $20 billion. A large proportion of the stimulus funding for energy efficiency programs and projects will go to states and municipalities, each of which will handle program development and design individually.
ACEEE has compiled a comprehensive informational resource detailing energy efficiency measures in the stimulus package, preparation strategies for administrators and potential beneficiaries of funds, and important links. We also released two papers, in conjunction with the Energy Efficiency Coalition, on energy efficiency program options and transportation energy efficiency funding opportunities in the 2009 stimulus. All of ACEEE’s stimulus resources are available on our Web site.
As energy efficiency-related stimulus funds begin to flow to state and local governments, ACEEE will continue to keep an ear to the ground and update the online stimulus resource to reflect the most recent implementation challenges and opportunities.
