WHAT’S THE IMPACT OF RAISING MOTOR EFFICIENCY STANDARDS ON MOTOR PROGRAMS?

Since ACEEE and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced the new agreement to raise and expand the minimum efficiency performance standards for industrial motors (see the March, 2007 Grapevine Online story), ACEEE has received numerous requests for more details on the proposals and questions on how efficiency programs can leverage the agreement. ACEEE has just posted a “white paper” providing background and details on the standards, along with the accompanying motor purchaser tax credit. The “white paper” also discusses strategies that motor efficiency programs should consider for repositioning their programs to take advantage of these proposals should they become law. View the white paper and keep up-to-date on motor legislative developments.
