Europe meets America at the eceee Web site

The European Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (eceee) is now expanding its extensive online library of conference proceedings. Four volumes of the ACEEE Summer Studies on Energy Efficiency in Buildings (2000-2006) are now available online.

eceee is grateful for the support of ACEEE for making their Summer Study proceedings available to members of eceee online. Abstracts from all four conferences are available for browsing, but full papers are available only to eceee members (with the exception of the most recent, 2006 ACEEE Summer Study, which are only available on CD and can be purchased from ACEEE. Proceedings from the ACEEE Summer Studies on Energy Efficiency in Industry will also be available online at eceee's Web site in the near future.

In total, eceee's online library of conference proceedings now contains some 2000 peer reviewed papers on energy efficiency. All proceedings between 1993 and 2001 from eceee Summer Studies are available without restrictions.

3rd Annual Market Survey of the Alternative Energy Sector – Early April Deadline

The Distributed Energy Financial Group (DEFG) is conducting the third annual market survey of the alternative energy sector with Market Strategies Inc. (MSI). The survey has become one of the benchmark surveys of the progress of the alternative energy sector, covering market trends, financing expectations, regulatory issues, and expectations in regard to the value proposition of alternative energy. The survey results are widely published in the media. Every respondent to the survey will get a copy of the final report with all the survey results. The survey is open until the beginning of April 2007. The perspective of stakeholders interested in energy efficiency is an important one, so please take 20 minutes to fill out the survey.

PECI Commissioning Survey – April 2 Deadline

PECI (Portland Energy Conservation, Inc.) invites you to take their Commissioning Industry Training Survey. Our industry faces critical market barriers that can, in part, be overcome by education and high-quality technical training for professionals in the field. PECI would like to learn more about:

  • Your work in the commissioning industry
  • Your needs for training
  • The obstacles you face in obtaining the training you need

The brief survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Your responses will help inform ongoing efforts to provide training, tools, and other programs that encourage continued growth in the commissioning industry. To launch the survey, please go to Commissioning Industry Training Survey Link.

15th National Conference on Building Commissioning

The 15th National Conference on Building Commissioning will be held May 2-4, 2007 in Chicago at The Sheraton Towers. This conference is an opportunity for commercial building and energy industry leaders to learn about the latest developments in the commissioning business. In 2007, the conference highlights include session tracks focusing on commissioning fundamentals, the business of commissioning, building specific commissioning and advanced technical skills. Early registration discounts end April 1st.

Pasadena Workshop: Voices for SSL Efficiency – April 6 Deadline

USDOE and Southern California Edison are hosting a two-day workshop on April 23-24, 2007 in Pasadena, California to begin a dialogue on how federal, state, and private-sector organizations can work together to guide market introduction of energy-efficient solid-state lighting products. The workshop will provide a forum for energy efficiency groups, utilities, lighting manufacturers, designers, and other interested stakeholders to share insights, ideas, and updates. Highlights include:

  • Emerging SSL markets for general illumination – timing and niches
  • Lessons learned from market introduction of compact fluorescent lighting
  • Case studies on early SSL applications
  • DOE’s five-year commercialization support plan, including ENERGY STAR®, testing, standards, demonstrations, competitions, and opportunities to participate
  • SSL product rollout scenarios - priorities and potential roles for government, industry, efficiency organizations, utilities, and others
  • SSL essentials – technology, applications, advantages, disadvantages.

9th Annual IEA Heat Pump Conference in 2008 – Abstract Deadline April 30, 2007

The 9th International Energy Agency Heat Pump Conference will be held in Zürich, Switzerland May 20-22, 2008. The theme for the 2008 Conference is “Advances and Prospects in Technology, Application and Markets.” The First Announcement/Call for Papers has been issued. Abstracts (200–300 words) are due to the Regional Coordinators by April 30, 2007. The Regional Coordinator for North and South America is Jerry Groff.

IEPEC 2007: Reliable Program Results? You Betcha!

The International Energy Program Evaluation Conference will be held August 14-16, 2007 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago with pre-conference workshops scheduled for August 13. The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for the presentation, critique, and discussion of objective evaluations of energy programs. The conference program features 97 peer-reviewed papers to be presented in 40 sessions across 9 panels, a Poster Session, and much more. The deadline for discounted registration is July 16.
