INTRODUCTION
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We are looking forward to another busy and fruitful year working
with all of you in the energy efficiency community. 2006 marks the
10th anniversary of the National
Symposium on Market Transformation sponsored by ACEEE and the
Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), with support from the U.S.
EPA ENERGY STARŪ programs. This year's Symposium is scheduled for
March 19-21, 2006 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.
and will feature the theme, "The Next 10 Years." The program will
highlight past successes and explore the challenges and approaches
to building on these successes. For a look at the preliminary
program visit our Web site. You may also register
online for the Symposium via our Web site, or download a hard
copy of the registration form. Register by January 27th to take
advantage of our "Early Bird" registration offer.
A sneak preview of the program for the 2006 National Symposium on Market Transformation reveals a wealth of timely topics, including an opening plenary that explores what market transformation can deliver in the face of crises, such as supply constraints, price spikes, and other extraordinary events. Session topics will cover activities by region; impacts of the 2005 Energy Policy Act; integrated DSM; programs for short-term gas savings; evaluation of marketing efforts; and the next big ideas in emerging technologies and practices.
We hope to see you March 19th in Washington, D.C. for the "Market Transformation" conference!
The other "must attend" energy efficiency meeting coming up in
2006 is ACEEE's Summer Study
on Energy Efficiency in Buildings scheduled for August 13-18,
2006 at Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, California.
Over 300 abstracts have been selected for presentation as peer-reviewed
papers or display presentations from more than 750 submitted. Stay
tuned to our Web site for imminent posting of the accepted abstracts
and the opportunity to register online. The 2006 Summer Study will
be our 13th biennial conference focusing on buildings. It will feature
more roundtables and interactive sessions than ever before and more
"free time" to network and to enjoy beautiful Monterey Bay. We look
forward to spending time with you there, too!
