The third national conference organized by ACEEE on this topic will focus on energy efficiency as part of a resource portfolio in restructured, as well as non-restructured states. In addition, the latest policy developments and research results will be presented on topics such as: integration of "resource procurement" energy efficiency with "public benefits" energy efficiency; "reliability-focused" energy efficiency to help address system reliability needs, including T&D; and energy efficiency as a policy response to sky-high fuel prices.

3. International Seminar on Energy Efficiency (SIEFE) in Brazil: November 9 - 10, 2005, Campinas, Sao Paolo, Brazil
Co-hosted by Associação Gente do Brasil and ACEEE
Location: Campinas - SP at the Royal Palm Plaza Hotel Resort, located at Av. Royal Palm Plaza, 277 Jd. Nova Califórnia
Preliminary information is available at http://www.gentedobrasil.org/siefe/Ingles/index.html

ACEEE is proud to partner with Gente do Brasil to offer the first International Seminar on Energy Efficiency (SIEFE). The conference will encourage energy efficiency in Brazil and throughout South America. It will also provide learning opportunities about a variety of technologies that cut energy costs resulting in the reduction of overall costs in factories: improving energy efficiency and productivity; diversifying the use of energy sources; and working with the government in order to influence policies and programs of public energy. The SIEFE will be organized and coordinated by Gente do Brasil, a non-profit organization (NGO) qualified by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice as a Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (OSCIP) whose scope covers the areas of energy efficiency, energy regulation, renewable energy, clean technologies, biodiversity, and poverty alleviation.

The SIEFE will be of interest to: professionals from the electricity industry; factories; NGOs; public companies; local, state, and federal governments; program implementers; installation professionals; builders; energy utilities; manufacturers of electrical and illumination products; distributors and retailers of installation materials; integrators; consultants; specialized technical service professionals; research institutes; regulatory agencies; federations, confederations and entrepreneurial class associations and end-users; universities, researchers, and students; research and technology institutes; and lawyers involved in energy projects.

4. ACEEE Forum on Energy Efficiency in Agriculture: November 14 - 16, 2005, Des Moines, Iowa
"Increasing Energy Efficiency in the Agriculture Sector: Farms, Ranches, and Rural Small Businesses"
Location: Embassy Suites Hotel - On the River, Des Moines, Iowa

To read more about the 2005 "Ag Forum," see the article in this issue of the Grapevine Online.

5. 2006 10th Annual National Symposium on Market Transformation: March 19 - 21, 2006, Washington, D.C.
Location: Omni Shoreham, Washington, D.C.
Preliminary Information will be available at http://aceee.org/pubsmeetings/curmtgindex.htm
Information about the 2005 MT

Every year ACEEE and the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) sponsor the Market Transformation (MT) Symposium in order to bring together policymakers, manufacturers, program planners, implementers and evaluators, and other trade partners together to network, compare programs, learn about new MT approaches, and the latest issues. Since the inaugural workshop in 1997, the field of market transformation has witnessed considerable growth and change, often in response to new challenges and shifts in the operating climate for energy efficiency programs and services. The Symposium seeks to address these opportunities and challenges with an agenda covering timely topics as well as updates on the effectiveness of various program approaches, new strategies for program design, integration of multiple program objectives, and evaluation methodologies.

6. 2006 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings: August 13 - 18, 2006, Pacific Grove, California
Location: Asilomar Conference Center, Pacific Grove, California
Preliminary Information will be available at http://aceee.org/pubsmeetings/curmtgindex.htm
Information about the 2004 Summer Study

The 13th biennial ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings will bring together a diverse group of energy efficiency professionals from around the world to discuss the technological basis for, and practical implementation of, improving energy use in buildings. The "Buildings" Summer Study will be led by Co-Chairs Ron Judkoff, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and John Busch, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). The preliminary Call for Papers will be posted at aceee.org in late May, 2005; abstracts will be accepted until October 21, 2005.
